How many homeless people are there in Southern California?
According to the Los Angeles County Homeless Services Authority's 2023 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, there were an estimated 69,144 homeless people in Los Angeles County in 2023, with 41,980 living in sheltered housing and 27,164 living unsheltered on the streets, parks, vehicles, or other locations not meant to be used for long-term housing. However, it's important to note that homeless counts are a point-in-time estimate and may undercount certain subgroups, such as people living in motels, couch surfing, or otherwise temporarily housed with others.
