How deep s ocean?
The deepest part of the ocean is the Challenger Deep, located in the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean. It is about 11,034 meters (36,201 feet) deep. The Challenger Deep was first measured by the British research vessel HMS Challenger in 1875, using a hemp rope with a lead weight attached to it. Since then, it has been measured several times using more sophisticated sonar technology.
