Bab el-Mandeb Strait is not located at the outlet of the Persian Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz is the chokepoint at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, located between Iran and Oman. Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a narrow waterway separating Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula from Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It is the southern entrance to the Red Sea and connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
