Two Famous Lakes of Jammu & Kashmir

The two most iconic lakes:

1. Dal Lake (Srinagar) – "Jewel of Srinagar"; 18 km²; houseboats, shikaras, floating gardens (rad), Mughal gardens on shores; major tourist hub.
2. Wular Lake (Bandipora) – India's largest freshwater lake (189 km² max); fed by Jhelum; critical for flood control, fisheries, migratory birds (Ramsar site).

Others: Manasbal (deepest), Gangabal (alpine), Pangong Tso (Ladakh, saline, partly in China).
