Charles Augustus Lindbergh was the first man to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean. He made the flight in a single-engine Ryan NYP plane named the Spirit of St. Louis, taking off from Roosevelt Field in New York on May 20, 1927, and landing in Paris, France, on May 21, 1927. The flight took 33 hours and 30 minutes.
