Grants for Construction in Ukraine

As of 2010, the Ukraine, a former republic of the Soviet Union, is healing from its years of turmoil and political unrest. Lonely Planet reports the country still suffers from the "surly, unhelpful bureaucracy that reigned when this was part of the Soviet Union, but now it's tempered by widespread aspirations to eventually join the EU." International organizations are aiding recovery by awarding grants that fund construction projects, ranging from schools and orphanages to churches and roads.
  1. The Papal Foundation

    • Funds from the Papal Foundation are vital to Ukrainian churches.

The Papal Foundation receives private donations that are managed and supervised by a two-tiered Board of Trustees that consists of American cardinals, archbishops, bishops and laity from across the country. Construction grants from the organization primarily focus on the construction of churches, non-government organizations, schools and smaller infrastructure projects. As of 2009, Ukrainian construction funded through these grants included the Archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins, the Seminary of Ivano-Frankivsk and the Cathedral of Buchach.
