When Can You Buy Beer in Virginia Beach?

In Virginia Beach, beer can be purchased daily from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM.

This applies to:

• Off-premise sales (grocery stores, convenience stores, bottle shops)
• On-premise sales (bars, restaurants, breweries)

Important Notes

• Individual retailers may set earlier closing times or later opening times.
• ABC stores (state-run liquor) have separate hours: typically 10 AM – 9 PM (Mon–Sat), closed Sundays.
• Local ordinances can further restrict hours in specific zones.
• Holidays may affect hours (e.g., Christmas Day restrictions).

Virginia is an alcohol control state—distilled spirits sold only at Virginia ABC stores; beer/wine sold by licensed private retailers.
