Try the Angel Hotel in Cardiff, which is located near Cardiff Castle, or try the Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris, which sits a mere 100 yards from the very famous 13th century Beaumaris Castle.

      Tour the ruins of the ancient Abergavenny Castle in Monmouthshire, southeast Wales. Built during William de Braose's lordship in the second half of the 12th century, Abergavenny Castle was one of the mightiest in Wales. Although it is in ruins now, a 16th century historian said that its walls were "likely not to fall."

      Make a stop at Gwrych Castle near Abergele, Cony, in north Wales. Although breathtakingly beautiful on the outside, Gwrych Castle is severely damaged on the inside, with collapsed ceilings and floors and with some fire damage, but it is still worth a long visit.

      Stop by the Penhow Castle, east of Newport, Gwent in southeast Wales. The Normans built Penhow Castle in 1070. Inside of the castle, there are many rooms with ancient artifacts that allow visitors to get a glimpse of what life was like back in the 12th and 13th centuries.
