Why in 1846 treaty between the US and great Britain encourage more settle ment Oregon country?
The 1846 Oregon Treaty did not encourage more settlement in the Oregon Country (as the present-day US states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho, and southwestern Canada were then known). Rather, it resolved the long-standing territorial dispute between the US and Great Britain in the Pacific Northwest, formally establishing the 49th parallel as the boundary between the US and Canada in that region.
