When was the first postal service between London and Edinburgh?

The first official postal service between London and Edinburgh was established in the 1630s by King Charles I. The service, known as the Post, or the Post Office, was modelled after the postal system in Continental Europe and provided regular and secure delivery of mail between London and other major towns and cities in the UK, including Edinburgh. The service operated using horse-drawn carriages, and mail was delivered on a weekly basis.
