Lake Tenkiller, a manmade reservoir in eastern Oklahoma, has nearly 13,000 acres of water, 130 miles of shoreline and provides water sports enthusiasts the opportunity for boating, fishing, scuba diving and waterskiing. If you'd like to stay overnight, cabins are available along the lake's shores, including some at Tenkiller State Park as well as privately owned options that range from cozy and rustic to large and luxurious.
Tenkiller State Park in Vian near the lake's southwest tip has 39 cabins that have one to three bedrooms and include full kitchens and outdoor grills. Some have lake views. The park also has 10 motel-style cottages that sleep four as well as nearly 230 campsites for tents and RVs. Park guests have plenty of amenities at their disposal, including hiking trails, a nature center, children's fishing pond, swimming beach, boat ramp, underwater scuba park and a marina with a restaurant and boat rentals. Tenkiller Cabins has a trio of three-bedroom lakeside cabins called Sunrise, Serenity and Tranquility within a short drive of Tenkiller State Park. Each includes full kitchens, washers and dryers, large living areas and decks overlooking the lake.
Family owned and operated for more than 50 years, Fin and Feather sits along Lake Tenkiller's western shoreline near Gore. The resort has a variety of cabin styles ranging from one-bedroom cabins that sleep two and have full kitchens and whirlpool tubs to large four- and five-bedroom cabins that sleep 20. Amenities include two on-site restaurants, an enclosed swimming pool and whirlpool spa, children's fishing pond, playground, and basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. Fishbone Cabins, a short distance from Fin and Feather, is home to two private cabins with full kitchens in a wooded setting near the lake, with ample parking for boats and trailers. The two-bedroom Bass cabin sleeps six and has a wraparound deck while the one-bedroom Catfish cabin sleeps four.
A pair of marinas along Cookson Bend on Lake Tenkiller's east side have vacation cabins. Cookson Bend Resort and Marina has one-bedroom cabins with a loft as well as two- and three-bedroom cabins. All have full kitchens, grills and picnic tables; some have lake views. The resort has motel-style rooms, and the marina rents pontoon boats, waterskis, wakeboards and stand-up paddleboards. Nestled on a quiet cove, Sixshooter Resort and Marina has a number of cabins and mobile-home units that include full kitchens, linens, televisions, outdoor grills, covered decks and porches. Some have fireplaces and lake views. Other amenities include pontoon-boat rentals, fishing docks and an on-site restaurant.
Burnt Cabin Marina and Resort on Lake Tenkiller's northern shoreline near Park Hill has several cabin styles ranging from small cozy and bunkhouse cabins that sleep four to larger deluxe cabins that sleep up to 10. All cabins have lake views, private decks, full kitchens and charcoal grills. The resort has mobile homes and campsites for rent as well as boat rentals and a restaurant. Pettit Bay Cabins, 11 miles northeast of Burnt Cabin, has six furnished cabins that sleep up to eight and include kitchenettes, screened-in porches and an outdoor grill across the street from the lake. Linens are provided, and a grocery store and restaurant are on site.
