What happend when the british sent warships to New England?

In response, the colonists formed the New England Confederation, the first formal American alliance among the English colonies. The confederation was formed in 1643 and lasted until 1684. It was created in response to the threat of attack by the Wampanoag and other Native American tribes, and to coordinate the defense of the colonies against attack by hostile European nations.
