What is the original name of Liberty Island?
The original name of Liberty Island is Bedloe's Island. The island was named after Isaac Bedloe, a Dutch farmer who owned the land in the 17th century. The island was renamed Liberty Island in 1956, in honor of the Statue of Liberty.
