Put your piece of paper onto a hard floor in front of a chair, then sit down on the chair and place your foot onto the piece of paper.
Trace around your foot with the pencil. Keep the pencil straight up-and-down as you do this, rather than angling it toward or away from your foot. Also make sure that the pencil is firmly in contact with your foot as you trace.
Remove your foot from the paper.
Draw a straight line across the paper at the tip of your longest toe and another parallel line at the back of the heel.
Measure the distance between the two lines with your ruler, then subtract 0.2 inches from this length.
