Dating back to 1829, Las Vegas with its southern Nevada roots is rich in history. The city is home to hotels more than a century old. Many such hotels can be found in and the city's downtown area. Despite age, many of Las Vegas' older hotels still offer luxury accommodations and first-class amenities.
  1. Flamingo Hotel

    • Originally owned by the famous mobster Bugsy Siegel, the Flamingo Hotel was one of the first luxury resorts built on Las Vegas Boulevard. It is a 3,626-room hotel built in 1946. Rooms are equipped with dial-up Internet and include in-room safes as well as cable TV with on-command movies. Resort amenities include a tennis club, car rental service and beauty salon. Those interested in gaming are provided with a 77,000-square-foot casino. The hotel provides seven restaurants including a steakhouse and buffet.

    El Cortez

    • Built in 1927, the El Cortez is a downtown Las Vegas hotel-casino. The hotel's 300 rooms offer wireless Internet access, pay-per-view movies and cable TV. Guests may enjoy hotel amenities and services such as airport shuttle service and a full-service hair salon. The resort's casino is spread out across a 45,000-square-foot gaming floor featuring 20 table games and 1,100 slot machines. Apart from gambling, guests may enjoy entertainment in the hotel's "Celebrity Lounge." Dining and dessert is available in the El Cortez's steakhouse, cafe, Subway and Dreyer's Ice Cream shop.

    The Riviera

    • The Riviera is a Vegas strip hotel-casino operating since April 20, 1955. It offers 2,075 rooms complete with flat-screen televisions, pay-per-view movies, and in-rooms safes. Property amenities include two tennis courts and an arcade. Guest services include a shuttle to the McCarran International airport and wake-up calls. Those interested in live entertainment may enjoy the resorts comedy club and world-class show, "Crazy Girls." As for dining, guests are provided with a seafood and steak restaurant, buffet, pub and food court.

    Vegas Club

    • Located in downtown Las Vegas, the Vegas Club hotel-casino was built in 1905. Each of the hotel's 408 rooms include Wi-Fi Internet access and cable television. Hotel amenities and features include a nail salon, 3,600-square-foot meeting area and in-house security. The resort's 49,000-square-foot casino provides popular table games and more than 800 slots. Guests may dine in the resort's Tinocos Kitchen restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Shuttle service to the McCarran International Airport is available for a fee.
