With no shortage of casinos, shows and things to do, it's easy to find yourself going over your travel budget. When that happens, you don't have to book the next flight home, you get creative and find the free things to do in Las Vegas. Believe it or not, some of the best shows in Vegas are free.
  1. Fountains at the Bellagio

    • The pond in front of the Bellagio is the site of the world famous Bellagio fountain show.

The Bellagio hotel is one of the gems on Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip). While the hotel and casino are impeccable, it's the fountain show that takes place in front of the hotel that has onlookers gawking with amazement. The show combines the precise choreography of water jets shooting a spray 240 feet into the air while accompanied by lights and music which varies between opera, classical and Broadway tunes. This all takes place on the quarter mile long man-made lake in front of the hotel with the help of 1200 nozzles and over 4000 lights.

The show lasts between five and 10 minutes. As of 2010, this show happens every 30 minutes in the afternoons and every 15 minutes after dark until midnight. The best part is the show is absolutely free.

    Fremont Street Experience

    • Off the Strip and in downtown Las Vegas, you will find the old Vegas and the legendary Fremont Street. Surrounded by historic hotels and casinos such as the Golden Nugget, the Fremont and Fitzgerald's, the Fremont Street Experience began in 1995 with the building of a 90-foot high state of the art canopy over four blocks of Fremont Street. Within that canopy lie 12 million LED lights and a 555,000-watt sound system. Every night about 25,000 people come to see the light and sound show over head as they walk down Fremont Street. The average light show lasts about six minutes and happens every hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. The show changes, but some of the most popular shows have been tributes to rock bands Queen and Kiss.
