The River Severn is England's longest at ~220 miles (354 km). It rises in mid-Wales (Plynlimon), flows through Shropshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire, and empties into the Bristol Channel.
Notable for the Severn Bore—a tidal surge wave that travels upstream up to 25 miles—and the historic Iron Bridge at Coalbrookdale (world's first cast-iron bridge, 1779).
