When did royalty stop living in the Tower of London?

Royalty stopped living in the Tower of London in the 16th century, when King Henry VIII moved his court to the Palace of Whitehall. The Tower of London continued to be used as a royal residence on occasion, but it was no longer the primary residence of the English monarchs.
