Driving Florida to Utah: 30–45 Hours Across a Continent
There is no single "Florida to Utah" drive time—it depends entirely on your start/end points and route. The diagonal cross-country span is ~2,000–2,400 miles.
Representative City Pairs
| From (FL) | To (UT) | Miles | Drive Time | Primary Route |
| Miami | Salt Lake City | 2,380 | 34–36 hrs | I-95 N → I-10 W → I-15 N |
| Orlando | Salt Lake City | 2,150 | 31–33 hrs | I-75 N → I-10 W → I-15 N |
| Jacksonville | Salt Lake City | 2,050 | 30–32 hrs | I-10 W → I-15 N |
| Tallahassee | St. George | 1,750 | 26–28 hrs | I-10 W → I-15 N |
| Pensacola | Moab | 1,650 | 24–26 hrs | I-10 W → I-15 N → US-191 N |
Route Strategy
- Southern Tier (I-10 → I-15): Most direct. Through Gulf Coast, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona. Desert heat summer; mild winter.
- Central (I-20 → I-25 → I-70): Longer. Dallas, Denver, Rockies. Snow risk winter.
- Northern (I-40): Not from FL. Would require I-75 N → I-40 W (Memphis→Barstow) → I-15 N. Longer.
Practical Planning
- Days: 3–4 days driving 8–10 hrs/day (safe)
- Fuel: ~$350–500 (25 mpg, $3.50/gal)
- Stops: Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Albuquerque, Flagstaff (classic I-10/15 stops)
- Flying: 4–5 hrs nonstop (MCO/TPA/MIA → SLC). Often cheaper than driving solo.
For moving: consider freight (UPack, PODS) or hybrid (fly + ship car).
