According to the United States Flag Code (4 U.S.C. §§ 5–10), an all-weather flag (made of durable, water-resistant material like nylon or polyester) may be flown 24 hours a day, every day of the year, regardless of weather conditions.
Traditional cotton/wool flags should be lowered in rain, snow, or high winds unless illuminated at night. The all-weather designation removes that restriction, allowing continuous display without fear of damage.
Note: The Flag Code is advisory; no penalties exist for non-compliance by private citizens.
