Where to Find Acting Jobs in the U.S.: Top 5 Platforms

Breaking into acting requires accessing the right casting pipelines. The five most effective platforms for U.S. actors:

1. Backstage (backstage.com)

• Best for: Theater, indie film, student projects, background, voiceover.

2. Actors Access (actorsaccess.com)

• Best for: TV, film, commercial, streaming — professional breakdowns.

3. Casting Networks (castingnetworks.com)

• Model: Free basic; Premium ($15/mo) for analytics, direct messaging.
• Feature: "Casting Director Workshops" (paid, controversial but accessible).

4. Mandy Network (mandy.com)

• Best for: Low-budget/indie film, crew gigs, UK/US cross-border.
• Model: Freemium; Pro £15/mo for applications.
• Bonus: Crew & creative jobs (not just acting).

5. The Hollywood Reporter / Variety (Career Sections)

• Best for: High-end TV/film, executive casting, union productions.
• Access: Trade subscriptions ($15–$30/mo) or free job boards.
• Signal: Legitimacy filter — major studios post here.

Supplemental Channels

• SAG-AFTRA / Actors' Equity: Member-only casting notices, contract protection.
• Social Media: #castingcall, #actorslife — CD posts, self-tape requests.
• College/Alumni Boards: Yale, Juilliard, NYU, USC — internal pipelines.

Pro Strategy

1. Start with Backstage + Actors Access (covers 80 % of legit calls).
2. Build a clean Actors Access profile: headshots, reel, SlateShot, special skills.
3. Submit selectively — quality > quantity.
4. Track submissions (spreadsheet: project, role, CD, date, result).

No single platform has everything; the working actor monitors 2–3 daily.
