Is American Apparel made in the US?

American Apparel was a clothing retailer and manufacturer founded in 1989 in Los Angeles, California. The company initially produced many of its products in the United States, but in the early 2000s, it began outsourcing production to other countries, including Mexico and China, to reduce costs. By 2012, only about 10% of American Apparel's products were made in the United States. In 2017, the company filed for bankruptcy and was purchased by Gildan Activewear, a Canadian company. Gildan closed American Apparel's U.S. factories and moved production to its own facilities. Therefore, at present, American Apparel products are not made in the United States.
