Gravois Mills is on the northwestern shore of the Lake of the Ozarks. This man-made reservoir is 55,000 acres and has a serpentine shape. The largest recreation area on the lake is Lake of the Ozarks State Park, approximately 30 to 45 minutes from Gravois Mills. These marinas have boat slips and refueling stations for boats on the lake.
Basspoint Resort (basspoint.com) in Gravois Mills is a summer resort on the shores of the Lake of the Ozarks. This 25-acre resort is family owned and operated. Some of the amenities offered by the resort include a tennis court, walking trails and two swimming pools. One of the pools is indoor/outdoor. Basspoint also accommodates guests with boat trailers and offers docks for boating activities. This resort features the Commodore Room, a facility for hosting private parties.
Founded in 1932, Jacob's Cave (jacobscave.com) was one of the first caves available to the public in Missouri. Jacob's Cave is also the only cave in Missouri to accommodate physically disabled guests. Some of the attractions of Jacob's Cave are prehistoric fossils and reflective pools. The cave provides an underground, one-mile path for walking excursions. Guided tours are available. Jacob's Cave also hosts animal swaps where visitors may buy, sell or trade animals with other visitors. The Cave is within 10 minutes of Gravois Mills.
The Royal Theater (theroyaltheatre.com) in Versailles, Missouri, is a 15-minute drive from Gravois Mills. This theater hosts plays, musicals and dance shows. The Royal Theater's seating capacity is 288. Built in 1931, the Royal Theater is one of the oldest performance spaces in central Missouri. The Dimon Annex, adjoining the Royal Theater, hosts art shows from September to May. Live theater events at the Royal Theater occur throughout the year.
Located in Versailles, the Morgan County Historical Society Museum (morgancohistory.org) is less than 15 minutes from Gravois Mills. This museum is located in the Martin Hotel, a log cabin-style building established in the 1850s. Many soldiers stayed at this hotel during the American Civil War. Some of the museum's exhibits include a 19th-century school classroom, barber shop and beauty parlor. The museum is open from May to October.
