North Stonington is home to two wineries that host wine-tasting events: Stonington Vineyards (stoningtonvineyards.com) and Jonathan Edwards Winery (jedwardswinery.com). Both vineyards also allow visitors to tour the wineries' facilities and vineyards. Jonathan Edwards facilitates tours Wednesday through Sunday, while Stonington offers daily tours and tastings. During the summer, the Jonathan Edwards Winery provides nighttime concerts and social events at its winery; children may come to the summer concerts under the supervision of an adult. Stonington Vineyards offers couples the opportunity to hold their weddings on the vineyard grounds.
Lake of Isles (lakeofisles.com) features two golf courses in North Stonington, the North Course and the South Course. Both courses have 18 holes. The North Course is open to the public, while the South Course is a members-only venue. Lake of Isles' golf courses were designed by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. Golf players on both courses have access to the Lake of Isles clubhouse and Golf Academy, which offers an indoor driving range and private coaching sessions. Lake of Isles provides golf coaching for children.
Several public ponds are available in North Stonington, including Long Pond, Wyassup Lake, Hewitt Pond and Billings Lake. The 109-acre Long Pond, 99-acre Wyassop Lake and 97-acre Billings Lake are among the largest bodies of water in the city; all three of these lakes allow slow-moving boats. No boats may enter Hewitt Pond. North Stonington's fishing season runs from mid-April through February at Long Pond, Wyassop Lake and Billings Lake. At Hewitt Pond, the fishing season lasts from mid-April to late October. Largemouth bass, pickerel and perch are common fish found in North Stonington's lakes and ponds.
North Stonington residents are within close proximity of culinarily diverse restaurants in the city. Asian eats are available at the Tea Garden Chinese Restaurant (teagardenchineserestaurant.com). Tea Garden offers free delivery service within the North Stonington area. Custy's International (custys.com) provides an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet. This North Stonington landmark has been operating since 1963. Children under 3 eat for free at Custy's. The Bellissimo Grande Hotel (bellissimogrande.com) features its on-site Bistro, which serves Italian and American-style entrees in a Tuscan-style setting. On weekends, the Bistro serves breakfast and lunch.
