The Lummis house, also called El Alisal, is an excellent example of the historical homes in and around El Sereno. Charles Fletcher Lummis designed and built this Mission-style house between 1896-1910. The Lummis house features an interior courtyard with a proud Sycamore tree inside. The house is built using stones from the arroyo bed, concrete and wood. Although the home's design gives a nod to native dwellings, elements of the English Arts and Crafts movement are also present in the design and decor. The Lummis house is open to receive guests Fridays through Sundays throughout the year.
