The Tri-Cities region is at the confluence of the Yakima, Snake and Columbia rivers. Fishermen may take advantage of its many marinas, which offer fuel and dumping stations, boat storage, and fish-cleaning facilities. Kennewick is home to the Clover Island Marina, located within the Port of Kennewick (portofkennewick.org). This 150-slip marina is on the Columbia River, but is less than a 10-minute motorboat ride from the Yakima and Snake. Also in Kennewick, the Columbia Park Marina (columbiaparkmarina.com) is open year-round. This marina, which is right off the Columbia Park Trail, features sheltered slips.
The Tri-Cities area hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, with those of the outdoor variety occurring primarily during the spring through early fall. In June, Kennewick is home to the annual Ye Merrie Greenwood Renaissance Faire (yemerriegreenwoodfaire.org), a weekend event that features medieval-style activities such as jousting, sword-fighting, period music and food vendors. The Tri-Cities International Fantastic Film Festival (tcif3.com) and Tumbleweed Music Festival (3rfs.org) occur in the fall, and Radcon (radcon.org), a family-friendly sci-fi and fantasy fanfare convention, is held in Pasco every winter.
Outdoor enthusiasts have access to hiking and bicycling trails throughout the Tri-Cities region. The 23-mile Sacagawea Heritage Trail runs along the Columbia River and may be used for hiking and bicycling; it runs through Kennewick, Richland and Pasco. Pasco is also home to Sacagawea State Park, on the confluence of the Snake and Columbia rivers, a 284-acre park with trails providing river views that's only open from March through October. Located in Kennewick, the 400-acre Columbia Park provides hiking and bicycling trails.
Southern Washington's Columbia Valley is considered the state's Wine Country, and many of its 160 wineries are in the Tri-Cities region.
