How to Fly From Honolulu to Midway Island

Midway is one of the oldest islands in the Hawaiian Islands chain. Twenty-six million years ago it was about where the Big Island of Hawaii sits today. Continental drift has pushed Midway to a spot in the Pacific 1,200 miles northwest of Honolulu. Since June 2006, Midway has been part of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument. The island was closed from 2006 until 2008. Since 2008, the only way to visit Midway is as part of an organized tour. Sixteen visitors are allowed on Midway at one time, and the island is only open to visitors from November to August.
