Things to Do on Spring Break in New York

Spring break is one of the few times a year students have the opportunity to take a break from studying and have a week of fun. The state of New York during the spring can have pleasant, cool weather and endless activities for the young and the restless.

  1. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo

    • The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, New York, is an ideal spring break escape for a cool afternoon, especially for those with younger children. Along with an aviary, a reptile zoo and a variety of other animals including penguins and lions, the zoo exhibits plant life, including flowers, that will be in full bloom during the spring. When you get the munchies, visit the zoo’s Jungle Cafe for hot dogs and gourmet ice cream. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo frequently offers spring break zoo camps, which are usually seven day's worth of zoo events, crafts and education for children. Group tours and educational animal demonstrations can also be scheduled. Tickets to the zoo can be purchased at the admissions booth at the front of the zoo.

The Beaver Lake Nature Center offers a series of trails and sightseeing opportunities for the adventurous and athletically inclined or for those who simply want to get away during their break.
