Romantic Seattle Ideas

Seattle, Washington, might be best known for its Space Needle, fish market and as the birthplace of grunge music. But the 1.1-million person coastal city has much more to offer, specifically in the case of a romantic getaway. Couples can enjoy fine dining, breathtaking views and romantic day trips.

  1. The Seattle Waterfront

    • Parks, piers and ship terminals bordering the Pacific Ocean aren't the only thing the Seattle Waterfront has to offer. It also features street performers and vendors, seasonal outdoor music, public leisure areas and romantic horse-drawn carriage and harbor tours to make the waterfront area a complete experience. Visitors can also arrange for transportation to Bremerton or Bainbridge Islands and destinations in British Columbia, Canada for separate day tours. Following a stroll along the pier, couples can dine at one of the waterfront's sea-side restaurants.

    Kerry Park

    • Kerry Park, located in the Queen Anne district of Seattle, offers visitors one of the most breathtaking views of the city. Here, visitors can take in Elliot Bay and Central City with Mount Ranier looming in the background. The setting becomes especially romantic in the evening and nighttime hours, as the Space Needle and city are illuminated. The park is open 24 hours so couples can pack a picnic lunch or sip champagne as they take in the view.

    Maximilien Restaurant

    • The Maximilien Restaurant is a French restaurant located in the Pike Place Market area. It features a romantic Paris-like atmosphere and features large windows so guests can take in the views of Puget Sound, Elliott Bay, West Seattle and the Olympic Mountains. The restaurant is open seven days a week and permits casual attire. It also offers guests the option of dining on a patio from spring through September. Menu specialities include the duck confit and cassoulet.

    The Seattle Monorail

    • The Seattle Monorail provides a fast, easy way for couples to experience all the sights the city has to offer. It departs every 10 minutes from stations near the Space Needle and inside Westlake Center Mall station, before giving riders a different, above-ground, perspective of the city. The monorail was built in 1962 for the Seattle Fair and allows people to take in somewhat of a futuristic view of the city. It costs $4 for a round-trip ticket.
