Things to Photograph in Seattle

Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and is home to a great many attractions like the Space Needle, the first Starbucks and a scenic waterfront. Visitors planning to bring their camera will not be disappointed by what the Seattle has to offer. Perhaps the best way to photograph Seattle is to wake up early and walk around the city, exploring the sights and sounds as Seattle wakes up to a new day.
  1. Smith Tower Observation Deck

    • The Smith Tower Observation Deck puts you right downtown with an excellent view of the downtown skyline and it's relatively close to Seattle's historic waterfront. The view is from the 35th floor and the deck wraps around the building giving you panoramic views over the city.

From the deck, you can see Mount Rainier, Safeco Field; Pioneer Square and the Colman Ferry Terminal. Here you can take spectacular photographs of the city during the day or at dusk, when the light begins to change.

    Pike Place Market

    • Open for more than a century, Pike Place Market has often been referred to as the "Soul of Seattle." It is a farmer's market and fish market, and contains more than 200 commercial businesses as well as touristy booths. There are also street performers and musicians who entertain guests with their impromptu performances. The market provides a unique venue to explore with your camera and capture the market's unusual ambiance.

    Seattle Monorail

    • The Seattle Monorail is the first commercial monorail system to be implemented in a city center. The rail is only about one mile long and shuttles tourists on a scenic tour of the city. Hop on the monorail with your camera and it will take you to a number of sites, such as the Space Needle, Experience Music Project and Pacific Science Center. You can snap some photos of the train itself or opt for the attractions along the way.

    Seattle Aquarium

    • If animals and odd-looking creatures are of interest, the Seattle Aquarium provides some different photographic opportunities. There are 11 different exhibits at the aquarium including Ocean Oddities, Birds and Shores, Marine Mammals and Window on Washington Waters. Bring your camera and walk around the different exhibits. You will have no trouble finding plenty of underwater animals to photograph.
