The center of the city is where you will find the most Chinese restaurants -- this is where the tourists usually shop and dine and Chattanooga boasts five main Chinese eateries in the city center. These include the New China Restaurant, Genghis Grill, the Red Lantern Cafe, China Cafeteria and Thai Smile. The Genghis Grill is a national chain establishment that serves Mongolian and Chinese cuisine, while Thai Smile is a restaurant that serves soup, noodles, fried rice, curry and special house dishes. All of the central restaurants are located on or just off Broad Street and Market Street.
Travel just 1.2 miles out of the city eastwards and you can still find a few Chinese eateries. East Chattanooga houses two main restaurants: the Number 1 Chinese Restaurant and Hunan Wok. The Hunan Wok in particular is open seven days a week and serves fried dishes, special Po-Po platters, Chow Mein, Chop Suey, Lo Mein and Egg Foo Young dishes. Hunan Wok also prides itself on cooking meals from the freshest and most natural ingredients and also strives to serve healthy and nutritious food.
Two Chinese restaurants in West Chattanooga are the New China Buffet & Grill and China Gourmet. The New China Buffet & Grill host an all-you-can-eat buffet where plates are cleared between servings and the food is always kept hot and restocked. New China Buffet & Grill has disabled wheelchair access, accepts credit cards and serves beer and wine with your meal -- the eatery does not offer a delivery service but can offer to cook take-out.
The north of Chattanooga is located across the Tennessee River and past the McLellan Island Nature Reserve. The only Chinese restaurant over the river -- without having to go too far -- is the New Peking Mandarin House. The establishment serves a variety of chef specials which contain ingredients such as lobster, shrimp, chicken, scallops and beef. There is also a series of combination platters that contain mixed ingredients and come served with a choice of soups or chicken wings.
