Before the winter chill rolls into Wisconsin, fall highlights the state's most beautiful natural features. Throughout the state there are a variety of festivals and destinations that demonstrate this. As an added bonus, traveling to Wisconsin in the fall can be inexpensive as it is the start of the off-season for travelers.

    • Across Wisconsin there are a variety of fall festivals that showcase different characteristics of the state. In Warrens, the annual Warrens Cranberry Fest draws a large crowd to northern Wisconsin to celebrate the yearly cranberry harvest. Wisconsin is one of the largest producers in the country and during this festival you can taste a variety of products made with cranberries and peruse a street fair. Every September in Milwaukee you can also attend the Indian Summer festival. This festival celebrates the Native American culture in Wisconsin at the Henry Maier Festival Grounds.

    Beer

    • Wisconsin is known for its German heritage that is directly linked to the popularity of beer in the state. During the fall, beer is celebrated in a number ways, especially in October for Oktoberfest. You can visit Milwaukee, New Glarus or Stevens Point for a brewery tour at any time or stop by any city for Oktoberfest celebrations. In Milwaukee, the city comes alive as bars and restaurants serve German dishes and drinks and offer free coaches between bars.

    • Wisconsin is home to a number of forests and bodies of water surrounded by trees. In the autumn before the leaves fall to the ground, bright reds, oranges and purples line the streets and waterways.
