Restaurants on Charles Street in Baltimore

With roots dating to the 18th century, Charles Street is one of the oldest thoroughfares in North America. It remains a prominent street in modern-day Baltimore, running along a north-south route through the city. Charles Street passes through or near many Baltimore landmarks, including the Inner Harbor, the Baltimore Museum of Art and Johns Hopkins University. It is the home of many fine taverns and restaurants.

    • Cazbar Authentic Turkish Taverna serves lunch and dinner and offers a wine list specializing in Turkish, French and Chilean wines. One special is a mixed meze plate, or a selection of small Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes including eggplant salad, or salatasi; saksuka, a traditional Turkish dish with tomatoes; baba ghanoush; haydari, a thick yogurt-based dip; and hummus.     • A traditional Irish pub, Mick O'Shea's Baltimore offers full cocktail service and a comprehensive menu featuring upscale tavern food and Irish specialties. Featured appetizers include jumbo shrimp steamed in Guinness beer, onion and Old Bay seasoning available by the pound or half-pound, and a baked wheel of Brie cheese served with sliced Granny Smith apples, red grapes and a baguette. Dinner entrees include Maryland crab cakes, St. Louis ribs in a house-made barbecue sauce and Guinness-battered fish and chips.

    Maisy's

    • Named after the owner's young daughter, Maisy's Restaurant offers a deep menu of appetizers, soups, salads, pizza and entrees, heavy on American comfort food and relying on local ingredients whenever possible. House specialties include a grilled Black Angus New York Strip steak, a seared bison filet, pan-seared salmon, jerk mahi mahi and jumbo lump Maryland crab cakes. A venison chili is made with venison, beans, tomato, cinnamon and corn and topped with diced onions, cheddar cheese and sour cream. Pizzas are cooked in a brick oven.

    Lumbini

    • Named for a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, Lumbini Restaurant serves authentic Nepalese and Indian dishes on traditional copper utensils. The restaurant regularly attracts Indian celebrities when they are visiting Baltimore. Specialties include tandoori chicken, tandoori shrimp, chicken tikka, fish tikka tandoori and a lamb chop marinated in yogurt and spices and cooked in the tandoor. Nepalese dishes include spice-marinated, charcoal-roasted chicken or lamb and stir-fried noodles with spices and fresh vegetables.
