Florida's history is rich with buried pirate treasures, native Indian treasures and treasures from sunken Spanish galleons. Gold, silver, precious jewels and other relics from shipwreck are buried on Florida's coasts. Buried treasures can still be found today on Florida's beaches. Treasures that are found on any Florida beaches might be claimed as long as they are not located on state park grounds, private beach property or in the water. Only treasure salvagers who have licenses can claim treasures found in Florida waters.

The Treasure Coast area from Stuart to Cape Canaveral got its name because many treasures including coins and jewels have been. Treasures have been found in Grassy Key, Miami, Lower Matecumbe Key and on numerous Florida West Coast beaches. There are many more treasures to be found on just about any beach in Florida stretching from the Keys, the East Coast or the West Coast of Florida.

      Purchase a metal detector. Compare metal detector brands, features and prices oline. Look for all-purpose metal detectors for coins, jewelry or gold. Metal detectors make finding metal treasures easier because they alert you to buried metal items. Hold the metal detector close to the area of sand you are searching moving it slowly. Try and listen carefully for the detector to make a sound indicating buried treasure. You can search for treasures by digging with a garden shovel.

      Go to a Florida beach after a storm. Search when the tide is low and in sand near shallow water. Bring your metal detector, pail, shovel, map and other hunting tools. Look for shiny objects. Make a day at the beach by packing a lunch and bring a beach chair. Relax and have fun.
