Near populous Philadelphia--the fifth largest city in the country--South Jersey now boasts a diverse restaurant scene with plenty of options, including several well-regarded Thai eateries. These range from fine dining and embracing a polished East-West fusion to casual and value-oriented. Most are BYOB establishments. Even if located in not-too-promising shopping centers, nearly all can provide a fine introduction to the varied and often spicy cuisine of Thailand.
With a large menu of familiar Thai dishes, wallet-friendly prices (that includes a BYOB policy), and a casual setting, this is a comfortable place to visit for some Southeast Asian spice in Voorhees. The restaurant provides plenty of options on its sprawling menu. There are nearly 20 starters, and well over 130 different main dishes. The stir-fried and curry preparations offer several proteins for each: beef, chicken, duck, shrimp and seafood. The soups and rice and noodle dishes have nearly as many mix-and-match choices. Prices range from around $8 to $18 with an average around $11. As an added treat, for dessert, they serve homemade ice cream in several flavors. You can even get it fried.

Serving Thai and French--and Thai-French--food, this was one of the top rated restaurants in South Jersey and tops in the Philadelphia area according to Zagat 2010. The presentation, prices, and ambition here are greater than at other area Thai restaurants. Dishes include oven roasted boneless crispy duckling with a pineapple cranberry chutney and grilled diver sea scallops finished with a tamarind-orange fusion. The setting might be a Cherry Hill strip mall, but the sedate interior helps provide a serene dining experience. Siri's does not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own wine or beer.

Serving South Jersey since 1991, this unassuming and moderately priced spot has been a favorite in Voorhees for nearly two decades. There are a brief number of soups, salads, and items like spring rolls and beef or chicken satay to start. The main dishes are divided among chicken, beef, pork, duck, seafood--including several deep-fried whole fish preparations--and a number of vegetarian items. Lunchtime is a great time for the value conscious. Somsak provides a dozen choices such as pad thai and red, yellow and green curry with spring rolls and soup, each costing well under $10.
