About Table Rock Lake

Table Rock Lake is a 43,000-acre lake with 800 miles of shoreline in southwest Missouri. The lake is popular for fishing and water sports. It is also next to Branson, which is a major entertainment center.

  1. History

    • Table Rock Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, finished in 1958 and producing electric power by 1959. The lake was made by damming the White River, and the dam acts as a means of flood control.

    Features

    • The lake is known for bass fishing. An aggressive program by the Missouri Wildlife Department has resulted in a considerable population of largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, blue gill and catfish.

    Camping

    • The Corps of Engineers maintains 13 campgrounds around the lake, with campsites on the lake. There are more than 100 privately owned campgrounds, resorts and other accommodations on or near the lake.

    Cruises

    • Cruises of various sizes, including showboats and dinner boats, are offered at the lake. Outfitters are also available for guided fishing trips.

    Nearby

    • Table Rock State Park is between the lake and Branson. Scuba diving is popular at the park, in addition to boating, fishing and camping.
