Norfolk is an independent city located in Virginia on the East Coast. The city has a population of 237,764 residents residing in more than 100 diverse neighborhoods. Norfolk is home to the world’s largest naval base, the region’s international airport, waterfront shops, numerous restaurants, excellent selection of churches and museums. The region also boasts of a collection of cruise ships, ferries, sailboats and commercial vessels sailing on the River Elizabeth.
Ghent is a posh and expensive area and is perfect for those who would like to spend on their accommodation in Norfolk. The area is divided into Ghent, West Ghent, East Ghent and Ghent Square. Larchmont & Edgewater is a residential neighborhood that is located close to the Old Dominion University and is the largest in the state. The neighborhood is home to more than 5,694 people living in more than 2,300 houses that include single-family homes as well as college student housing. The houses were built in the early 20th century, and their style include Colonial Revival, grand Victorian and Craftsman bungalows. Many of the houses face the Lafayette River or the Elizabeth River. The neighborhood has one restaurant called D'Egg West and a grocery store to fulfill basic necessities.
Berkley is located directly across the eastern side of River Elizabeth and was an incorporated town in Norfolk in 1890. The area was once popular for its port facilities, shipyard and train terminal. The neighborhood has 21 churches and a community development center that houses facilities like a library, fitness center and swimming pool. The neighborhood houses Farm Fresh, which is a grocery store; a sandwich shop; and a Chinese takeaway restaurant. Other utilities include a post office, car rental, funeral home, spa and salon.
