Over 13 miles long, Lake Wallenpaupack covers 5,700 acres of land in the Poconos Mountains of eastern Pennsylvania. Constructed in 1927, the man-made lake is a destination for fishing and boating. Gresham's Chop House sits along Route 6 in Hawley inside Gresham's Lake View Motel & Marina. The family-owned and operated establishment has served the Lake Wallenpaupack area since 1950. The restaurant opened in 1999 and in the summertime offers a choice of indoor seating in the dining room or on the outdoor, shaded deck, both of which overlook the water.
Steaks are the specialty of the house, such as the 16-oz. bone-in ribeye, aged at least 21 days in-house and then grilled. The wine list consists of 19 selections. The restaurant has a "cork and carry" policy, allowing diners to take any unconsumed wine home with them in the bottle.
Gresham's Chop House is open Tuesday to Sunday for dinner only. The restaurant closes all day on Mondays. Reservations are only taken for parties of eight or more. A wait for a table is possible on weekends at dinnertime during the peak boating season in the summer. Casual attire is acceptable. The motel has dock facilities for boaters.
