Smith Mountain Lake, located in the Roanoke Valley, is Virginia's most visited lake. Developers dammed the Blackwater and Roanoke rivers in 1963 to create Smith Mountain Lake, which covers 32 square miles of surface area and offers 500 miles of shoreline. The Landing, located in Moneta, Virginia, takes advantage of its waterfront location by offering views of the lake from inside the restaurant, a waterfront deck and a waterfront bar area. This fine dining establishment offers "modern American cuisine with a touch of Andean Nuevo influences," says the restaurant. The restaurant's menu for the winter beginning in 2010 features a variety of entrees from the surf and the turf.
Mango's Bar and Grill is a tropical-themed restaurant located in Moneta. This Smith Mountain Lake-area restaurant and live music destination features a menu that includes burgers, Cuban sandwiches and fish and chips. Entrees include a beef fillet, salmon, mahi mahi and the restaurant's most popular item, the Rasta Pasta, which combines chicken, vegetables and linguine in a spicy cream sauce. This restaurant closes for the winter but opens for the tourist season, generally between early March and Labor Day.
The Marina Cafe at Mitchell's Point is nearest to the town of Huddleston on the eastern side of Smith Mountain Lake. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the menu at this lakeside restaurant are American classics such as biscuits, fried potatoes, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and fried catfish. There are inside and outside seating opportunities.
Benjamin's at the Pointe is located at the Mariner's Landing resort near Huddleston, VA. It focuses on seafood such as crab legs, Ahi tuna, crab cakes and salmon fillet. Other options include steaks, pastries, burgers and more. The restaurant offers a menu for children. Benjamin's at the Pointe is accessible by boat and offers lakeside views of the water for diners.
