Enfield lies in Connecticut close to the Massachusetts border. Enfield was originally part of Massachusetts, but a lawsuit later placed it in Connecticut. Enfield has been the site of several historically notable events. Rev. Jonathan Edwards, a leading early American pastor and preacher, delivered his famous sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,” in Enfield. In the 18th century, a group of Shakers created a Utopian commune in Enfield. The town is now known for its architecture, parks and historical sites.     • Frankie’s Firehouse Restaurant is a family-owned Italian restaurant that has been in the Enfield area since 1958. The restaurant makes custom pizzas from freshly made dough, including an extra-large, 58-inch “Super Party” pizza for special events. Customers can order calzones, soups and such sandwiches as meatball, roast beef, turkey, pepperoni, pastrami, capicola and sausage. You can also find tuna fish sandwiches, veal and chicken parmigiana grinders and an all-vegetarian sub. Frankie’s is closed Monday and Tuesday, but is open for lunch and dinner ever other day of the week. The restaurant also provides banquet services and facilities.

    • The Country Diner is a homey, comfortable restaurant owned and managed by Joe Ravalese. The diner serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also hosts special events, such as the “Big 72 Challenge,” in which customers vie to finish off an entire 72-inch sirloin steak. If you finish the steak, it is free. The contest also features cash drawings and giveaways. Country Diner breakfasts offer many egg dishes, like eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine and eggs with Canadian bacon, ham steak, kielbasa or corned beef hash. For lunch or dinner, you can find salads, soups and sandwich platters, as well as seafood platters, pot roast, fried chicken and roast prime rib au jus. Country Diner serves breakfast and lunch Mondays through Wednesdays; breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and breakfast on only Sundays.
