Attractions in Marquette, Iowa

Marquette, Iowa, was formerly known as North McGregor. The two communities of McGregor and Marquette go as far back as June 1693. Marquette became incorporated in 1874, known for being a supplier to the largest railroad route in Iowa. Water ferries, and later, a pontoon bridge carried passengers and goods across the Mississippi River from Iowa to Wisconsin. In an area rich in railroad and river history, Marquette and nearby towns offer many attractions to travelers.
