Night tours of New York City are just as impressive as those that take place during the day. Once the sun goes down, all of the lights go on and the city's hectic schedule continues unabated. Many of New York's tour companies have taken advantage of this equally busy time and offer night tours that travel throughout the city.
CitySights NY operates a hop-on hop-off tour that takes visitors around New York on a double-decker bus. During the evening, the tour converts into a nighttime tour and follows a slightly different route to provide the best possible views of New York's glittering skyline. Along with seeing Time Square, the Empire State Building, Chinatown and Greenwich Village, CitySights NY takes the tour over the Manhattan Bridge and into Brooklyn so that visitors can see all Manhattan. During the month of December, the traditional night tour converts into the Lights of the Holiday Tour. This tour takes guests to all of New York's best Christmas attractions including the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, Macy's, the Laser Light show at the Grand Central Station and Central Park.

On Board New York City Tours takes guests on guided night tours into some of the city's most famous locations. The night tour begins in front of Grand Central Station's big brass clock in the Main Concourse. From there guests board the bus and drive through Herald Square, past Macy's and Madison Square Garden, down Canal Street and many other New York attractions before crossing the bridge to Brooklyn. Once back across the bridge, guests walk along Mulberry Street in Little Italy before heading to the tour's final stop in Times Square. Like other New York City bus tours, On Board also converts its regular night tour into a Christmas themed one in December.

GrayLine New York offers guided tours through New York aboard a double-decker bus. The hop-on hop-off format of the tours becomes a continuous 2-hour tour every night starting between 5:30 and 6:30 (start time dependant on each passenger's departure location). The tour guides are well versed in New York's extensive history and the locations that the buses travel through. The only actual stop on the night tour is at the Brooklyn Fulton Ferry Landing where visitors can either stay atop the bus or get off to take a picture of the Manhattan skyline. When Christmas lights begin appearing around the city in early December, GrayLine alters its tour route to ensure that visitors get the chance to see all of the iconic holiday decorations.
