Fun Places to Take Kids in New Jersey

f you're looking for some kid-centered destinations in New Jersey, you don't have to look very far. The state offers a multitude of amusement, nature, educational and cultural activities for you and your little ones to enjoy.

  1. Clementine Park

    • New Jersey has a multitude of amusement parks and water parks. Clementine Park offers thrill rides, family rides and a water park. They're closed during winter months, but in the spring and summer, your kids can enjoy attractions like the ring of fire, hellcat and sea dragon thrill rides. For younger kids, they have a carousel, kids' train, Ferris wheel, pedal boats, a bouncing castle, playport maze and other rides. The water park has a lazy river, vertical slide, sky river rapids and a kids' "shipwreck bay" water playground. The park hosts groups and parties as well.

    Camden Children's Garden

    • This garden just for little ones is located in Camden and is run by the Camden City Garden Club. The garden provides a place for your kids to discover nature in a colorful world. The garden is 4 acres and includes a butterfly house, a tropical exhibit and Ben Franklin's secret workshop. It also offers a Dinosaur garden maze, tree house, picnic garden, storybook garden, fitness garden and cityscapes garden. If you're looking for rides, check out the garden's carousel, Spring Butterfly Ride and train. They're only open Friday through Sunday, or on Thursday with a reservation. Visiting is also affordable. Admission is only $6 for adults and $5 for kids ages 3 to 11.

    Liberty Science Center

    • For fun with an educational purpose, visit the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. the center has an IMAX dome theatre that shows special films like "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure." The center has workshops especially designed for homeschoolers, hosts birthday parties and seasonal events like the Halloween Spooktacular and designs scavenger hunts for various age groups. Parents Magazine voted the center a "Top 10 Science Center."
