Restaurants for Kids in Atlanta

Atlanta's restaurant scene rivals that of any big city in the United States, and you'll find an impressive range of flavors and cuisines from around the world. Eating out with kids can be a challenge, especially if you have picky eaters. Fortunately, Atlanta offers tons of kid-friendly restaurants that feature fun decor, casual dress requirements and plenty of foods that kids enjoy. Most of these restaurants can accommodate large parties, making them ideal spots to celebrate your child's next birthday party.

  1. Flying Biscuit Cafe

    • This small restaurant chain began in the Chandler Park area of Atlanta and has since expanded to other parts of the South. The basic concept of The Flying Biscuit, which to some may sound like a contradiction, is traditional Southern-style recipes prepared with healthy, fresh ingredients. It's a great place to take the kids because the food is both nutritious and tasty. The restaurant's charming, friendly decor and service add to its appeal as a kids restaurant. Enjoy hearty, homemade plates like biscuit pot pie, Coca-Cola barbecue-glazed salmon with garlic mashers or the roasted red pepper hummus wrap. You can also enjoy breakfast treats like orange-scented French toast and turkey hash.

    The Varsity

    • Since 1928, the world's largest drive-in restaurant has been serving Atlanta families for generations. This Atlanta landmark serves up classic fast food and diner fare with a smile. Pull in The Varsity's drive-through and you'll probably feel like you've stepped into a time machine as your paper-hat-clad server greets you with a friendly "What'll ya have?" You can't go wrong with The Varsity's signature chili cheese dogs, fried pies and onion rings, and although it may not be the healthiest food, all ingredients are made from scratch each day and the food contains no trans fat, saturated fat or cholesterol. On the healthier side of things, the Varsity offers both a garden salad and a grilled chicken salad. Avoid The Varsity during Georgia Tech home football games when hungry college kids show up in droves.
