Situated on the west coast of Africa, Morocco has a rich and varied culinary history. Most meals consist of four different courses, beginning with a series of hot and cold salads followed by a stew, or tangine. Next comes the meat course that is usually served with an accompaniment of couscous and vegetables. Mint tea is the final delight. There are quite a few Moroccan restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia.
Located in the heart of Atlanta's Buckhead community, the Imperial Fez is a lavish and comfortable restaurant that offers a five-course dinner meal in the tradition of Moroccan cuisine. Diners shed their shoes before being led to sit on the floor on overstuffed pillows and surrounded by ornate velvet and silk wall and table coverings. Eating with your fingers is encouraged, and you should call ahead to reserve a table if you want to enjoy the nightly belly-dancing show that begins at 8 p.m. Hookah pipes are available for smoking between dishes like Harrira Moroccan lentil bean soup and roasted Cornish hens with almonds, cinnamon and spiced eggs.

Divan is divided into two main sections. The downstairs bar and lounge area is where guests nibble on small bites over a cocktail or share a hookah pipe to taste an enormous array of tobaccos. Upstairs, you'll find an elegant banquet room that feels like it was lifted from the halls of an imperial temple. Private rooms are also available to accommodate parties from two to 80. Popular dishes include ashe reshteh, a noodle soup with beans, spinach and herbs; basil mint caramelized scallops with pomegranate vinaigrette couscous; and lamb kebabs served with yogurt, burberries and basmati rice.
