Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant is 1/2 mile from the Wellmont Theatre. The restaurant's Ethiopian cuisine features both vegan and meat-filled dishes. To begin the meal, diners can choose one of six appetizers, such as the azifa, a cold lentil salad with red onions, garlic and jalapeno peppers. One popular dinner entree is the tibs wat, cubes of USDA prime beef cooked in a spicy hot sauce. Another is the shiro, a spicy mixture of pureed split peas cooked, red onions and garlic. Although it does not sell alcohol, the restaurant welcomes guests to bring their own wine or beer to enjoy with their meals.
