If you're visiting the country of Japan and looking to take the long way back home to the United States, you may want to consider going on a cruise. As of 2010, there is only one cruise line offering trips departing from Japan and ending in America: Crystal Cruise Lines, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in luxury travel.

The cruise from Japan to the United States through Crystal Cruises lasts for 22 days, leaving from Yokohama and arriving in Los Angeles with stops along the way. From Yokohama the ship sails to Petropavlovsk, Russia. After several stops in Alaskan port cities, the ship sails to Vancouver, British Columbia, before making its way to San Francisco.
Accommodations on the ship include a penthouse, penthouse suites and deluxe staterooms. All penthouses include a veranda area. Staterooms are available with or without a veranda. Rooms include cable TV, DVD player, CD player, hair dryer, ship-to-shore phones with voicemail, refrigerator with complementary beverages, safe and wireless Internet access. Penthouses also include personal butler service, afternoon tea, hot tub and complimentary alcoholic beverages.
There are many activities the ship offers as ways to pass your time while you're at sea. Lessons in golf, bridge, yoga, French, tai chi, computers and photography are available. Swim laps in the indoor/outdoor pool, play a game of water volleyball, watch a movie in the ship's theater, relax with a spa treatment or test your luck in the casino.
Visit one of the ship's three dining rooms that offer meals prepared by European-trained chefs. If you prefer to stay in your room, order room service, which is available 24 hours a day. Complimentary coffee beverages are made to order whenever you desire. When you want to spend a night out, visit one of several bars and lounges on the ship.
