The village of Berlin dates back to 1918, making it the oldest village in Holmes County and part of Ohio's largest Amish community. Berlin's early history included the development of several machine shops, a foundry, tannery and grist mill. Today, Berlin thrives as tourist community with over 50 retail, restaurant and lodging establishments. The Berlin Main Street Merchants promote a wide array of themed activities throughout the year, so travelers are never short of things to do in Berlin, Ohio.
Visit the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center to see Behalt, a 265-foot cyclorama, or mural-in-the round. The cyclorama is only one of four to exist in the United States. The scenes interpret the Amish-Mennonite history from their early Anabaptist roots in Zurich, Switzerland in 1525 to the present. Guests view a video presentation about the Holmes County Amish community and other exhibits, such as the South Bunker Hill School, a Pioneer barn and a Conestoga wagon. The center also hosts an information and gift center on site. The center is open year-round and charges admission for guided tours and outside attractions.

Schrock's Amish Farm and Village offers visitors an earthy shopping experience. The Berlin Antique Mall, Berlin Craft Mall and 'Tis the Season Christmas Shop serve as anchor stores for several other specialty boutiques. Travelers with tired feet appreciate the train and buggy tours and history buffs can take the 30-minute, self-guided tour of an Amish family home, built in 1947. The venue operates from April to October and charges admission for tours and rides.

The Original Homes County Flea Market houses over 52,000 square feet of vendor space. Bargain hunters peruse a variety of antiques, collectibles and wood products before heading over to the cafeteria. Visitors who are just tagging along or need to rest can grab a seat by the big screen TV for their convenience. The market operates Wednesday through Saturday from April to December. While there are no admission costs, parking fees apply.
