Northeast Ohio has December activities for all kinds of interests. Families can spend all day in Cleveland and still have trouble seeing everything. From sports to tree lightings to the theater, Cleveland offers the opportunity to enjoy the seasonal activities popular with this time of year. Visitors can head downtown for a sporting event and dinner, visit a museum or see a play.
The Cleveland Orchestra holds an annual Holiday Concert for several nights around the second weekend of December. The Holiday Concert features some of the season's favorite music. They hold their events at Severance Hall in east Cleveland, near the botanical gardens and Case Western University. Tickets for the event range from $34 in the balcony to $89 in the boxes, as of 2010.

Every December in Cleveland, the city holds the Winter Lights Lantern Procession, which finishes at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The Holiday CircleFest also is held every year to mark the opening of the Wade-Oval ice skating rink. This festival features free admission to more than 20 of the area's museums, churches and cultural institutions.
The Cleveland Play House is home to one of Cleveland's finest theaters. The playhouse has different plays run throughout the course of seven months. During the month of December, the playhouse typically holds the Festival of Trees. This festival presents more than 70 trees, which are sponsored and decorated from different Cleveland businesses.

For the sports fan, the NFL's Cleveland Browns generally play several home football games during the month of December. Most games are played on Sunday or Monday. The Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball team typically plays several games at home throughout the entire month. Both teams are located in downtown Cleveland, only minutes from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
