Lake Erling is an artificial lake just northeast of the state lines for Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. It was built by the International Paper Co. in 1958. Aside from the excellent crappie and bass fishing at the lake itself, visitors will find excellent deer, quail, turkey, rabbit and waterfowl hunting opportunities in the surrounding Lafayette County Wildlife Management Area. There is also a nearby wildlife refuge to explore, as well as a number of trails and smaller bodies of water. And for those of you traveling in campers, there are also a number of RV parks in the area.
Once a derelict plot of land, the Frank B. Anthony RV Park is located on the grounds of Springhill, Louisiana's new Community Activities Center, about 9 miles southeast of Lake Erling. The grounds contain a landscaped walking trail and a covered picnic pavilion with barbecue. The RV park has 30 pads and full hookups.

Along the shores of the nearby Lake Columbia, about 20 miles away from Lake Erling, the Lake Columbia RV Park contains 20 RV pads with both 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups and water hookups. The park also features a dump station and restroom/shower facility. The bordering Lake Columbia features three concrete boat ramps, as well as great bass, crappie and channel catfish fishing.

About an hour's drive from Lake Erling is the Texarkana KOA campgrounds on the Texas side of the Texas-Arkansas city of Texarkana. In addition to cabin and campsite rentals, this KOA has a number of 68 to 90 foot RV pads with 50 amp hookups. The campgrounds also feature a playground, swimming pool, fishing pond, RV art gallery, nature trail and movie theater with nightly movies. Wi-Fi Internet access and cable TV are provided free of charge.
